No, they know that LSU has looked the best of the 3 undefeated contenders. The arse whooping of #4 Georgia last night solidified LSU's #1 ranking.

If anything they are protecting Clemson and LSU from guaranteed first round exits , by putting OSU #1

It's been fun watching LSU and Clemson scared to play each other.
The melt would be fun, but I think the committee will put LSU at #1. They haven't had the final four correct yet. No point in starting now.

I’ve resolved myself to the inevitable that OSU will remain #1 and I’m fine with it because I think LSU really is #1, and whoever we end up playing we will have to beat and earn it.
Now, there’s no doubt in my mind that there’s a large bias in the committee for the B10, and Coach Day making it a point to lobby for it immediately after their conference game ended is almost scripted to me in order to get the ball rolling in that direction, but let me say this. There’s nothing guaranteeing they beat OU either. Clemson is a tough opponent, make no mistake about it, but if my Tigers really are #1, then we should beat them, and then take on the winner and beat them as well, because that’s what #1’s do.
