With two or more possible games a season in college college, scholarship limits should go up to 90-95.

This especially if and when there becomes a 5, 6, or 8 team playoff.

I always have felt that the restricted numbers favors a prime recruiter/evaluator like Saban. There is less margin for error. The poor evaluators can camouflage their weaknesses with expanded numbers and sheer volume. I'm good with 85.

Why? The numbers are already too high as it is.

66 players fill a 3-deep roster (of which many "3rd team" players won't play much if any at all...think about how often we've used the 3rd team linemen). Another 19 are allotted for developmental players.

Pushing it past 90 is just gluttony.

I strongly disagree.

If there’s a 25 a year hard cap. There should be a scholarship roster limit at 100-125.

I've always been in favor of increasing the scholarship limits. The only thing it is hurting now are the kids wanting to come to a certain school.

How many kids have Bama told no because they didn't have a spot for them?

I don't think the NCAA is very likely to loosen the 85 total counters limit. If the limit were 95 there's a valid point that more kids could benefit by getting free college degree. However, a lot of schools' athletic programs can't afford 95 schollies. Also, it'd likely reduce parity, since the talent-rich teams could get even deeper with talent, leaving the other teams less talented.

I don't think they'll increase the 25 annual limits either, unless transfers reach the level where schools commonly can't hit the 85 total counters limit without resorting to awarding more than a few schollies to walkons. The 85 cap ÷ 4 years = about 21 departures/year. So, signing 25/year allows for attrition of 4/year.

Maybe they'd consider adding an exception rule for extreme transfer-out attrition -- to allow for some replacements that wouldn't count against the 25 limits. For example, a team might have a terrible season or HC departure, resulting in 10 outbound transfers, along with 25 graduations and early departures to the NFL.

Put me down for wanting the limit raised to 95. That would be an extra 140 people in the SEC that get their school paid.

Im on the fence with this issue...as stated above smaller numbers benefit those that are willing to put in the effort in to recruit.

On the other hand...im all for more kids getting an opportunity to not only attend college on the schools dime..but also to attend the school of their choice. It bothers me that for the sake of parity (aka money) the NCAA put a limit of 25 per yr. If you have grown up a Bama fan and are a good football player...just you happen to be...#26 you either have to foot the bill yourself or go to another school. Not that Bama doesn't want the kid....just not allowed to offer him, and finances what they are....he generally has to go somewhere else. That part of me says...as many kids as a school wants to give schollys to ...do so.
