I think you could argue that the West have been riding on Saban's back. You're only looking at the last decade. Since this Century, Saban has dominated the East @LSU & @Bama.

Okay. But the discussion is the division, not a single team. The last two years, the east has been as good or better. There really shouldn't be an argument here. It's not like we don't play each other.

If you want to hang your hat on that statistical breakdown, I'm fine with it. But the OP was referring to the SEC Championship Game. You know, where the East sends their best and the West sends theirs to see who wins. And, well, the facts don't lie.

ETA: The West is the best. Even with an LSU loss this Saturday.

I think I see the disconnect here. The west teams have been riding on Alabama's back so long they are under the impression that one team is the only one that counts.

SEC championships since 2000:

Alabama - 6
LSU - 4
Auburn - 3
SECw total - 13

Florida - 3
Georgia - 3
SECe total - 6

Alabama, Auburn, and LSU all have NCs since 2000 compared to only Florida from the East.

The top half of the West has continued to be competitive nationally while the East usually only produces 1 maybe 2 good teams on a regular basis.

Fair enough. New question. Why is Alabama better than the East?

Or, exclude Alabama. Same question. Why is the West the best?

Dude. Look at the thread title. Now stop. Think.
The OP asked why the west was best. It is not. The west is a division, not a team.

Crap dude. How do you get out of bed in the morning?

No, he wasn't. Reading simply isn't that difficult. If he were talking about ONLY the SECCG, then he would not have said this:
ETA: Of note, the average rank of each opponent in those gaems:

West - #2
East - #11

He is clearly talking about the entire division. Don't come on here and say something dumb, then when called out for it try to twist things around.

But, even at that....the east has won the SECCG half the time in the last two years. Was the west better than the east in the past? No doubt. but any way you want to slice it the east has caught up to the west. You can't go pick some random date to make your narrative look better.

I don't know. Why are they better than the west? Are you somehow forgetting that LSU just got out of a 7 year drought against Alabama?

Seriously. You should just drop out of this thread and never come back. Every time you come up with another bright idea/angle it just makes you look dumber.

Let me guess. You are including a certain team that averages 5 losses a year in the last 5 years as being competitive on a national level. Right?

This is 2019. 2010 was a long time ago.

ETA
Let's see. 2019
One team from the west is ranked in the top 10-LSU
Two teams from the east is ranked in the top 10-Georgia and Florida

2018-2 teams finished in top 10 from the west-Alabama and lSU
2 teams from the east finished ranked in top 10-Georgia and Florida

Looks pretty even to me. In fact, you could give the east a slight edge in teams performing on a national level.

So, I guess if you can't think of anything new or original to make up your argument you just copy and paste from my posts. They say "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

Feathers too ruffled for logic? Contradicting yourself? Just tell them they're the dumbass and tell them they're just jealous.

ETA: Why would I need to come up with something new? You've already proved my point. The West is the best.

When you play a cupcake schedule, all you have to do is win the games and you will move up. UGA play Auburn and that's it. UF plays LSU and that's it.

As far as the 5 lose crap, Auburn would only have 1 loss with UGA's schedule too. UGA would have lost to Bama and LSU and possibly Oregon if they had Auburn’s.
