Why is what happening? This discussion? It's what people do when there is a topic of interest. Conversation, exchange of ideas.... it's amazing stuff.

Not what I mean why was the hire a done deal by now? Something is telling me the AD struck out to get any of the better head coaches. Just got to go cheap? That is what I mean! No more cheap and roll the dice!

Or maybe he was waiting for the end of season games to be played and give the coach (whomever) a day to celebrate with his players?

I'm positive people told him no thanks. Coaching at Missouri is a hard job. The overall instate football product isn't very good. What decent talent exists readily goes a blue blood where a high percentage get recruited over and buried on the depth chart.

There are recruiting sanctions to deal with. While the net effect may be minimal in the long run, it takes a little of the shine off the penny.

I also think great opportunity also lies in the job provided the next guy is the right fit.

Now who can argue with that? I think we're all indebted to Lefty for clearly stating what needed to be said. I'm particulary glad that these lovely children were here today to hear that speech. Not only was it authentic frontier gibberish, it expressed a courage little seen in this day and age.
