It is - it's the 3rd time in the last 4 big games this has happened.

If it wasn't I'd be willing to give a pass on account of the freshman on defense just not being able to play fast enough mentally against an elite and complex offense, but it happened against UGA/Clemson last year too in the 1st half.

It's a problem.

I really think part of it is that Saban wants to remove so much of the emotion, just focus on execution and everything will be ok.
IMO, if you are only worrying about said “execution” then you start thinking about NOT doing something, trying not to lose, trying not to make a mistake. Then, we all know that creates problems. An obvious point of this is our shitty kicking game over the years. It’s been in their heads so much to not make mistakes it’s all some players end up doing

on account of the freshman on defense

LSU had several freshmen on defense in the second half when Alabama was trying to make their comeback:.

Stingley
Brooks
Ward
Flott
Ika

Divinity was out, Harris has been out, Delpit played hurt. Stingley and Brooks are freshmen starters due to previous injuries/departures. I can understand fans of a team as deep and talented as Alabama's might give your statement more credence, but most teams often have to play more freshmen by November due to injuries - and usually their freshmen aren't as highly ranked as Alabama's.

"Freshmen" ain't it.

Saban's just not that great of a game day coach. If his system doesn't have players ready to go by game day, he could be in for trouble.
