Forget Nutt, is Chad the REAL QB killer?

5 or so QBs played in less than 2 years. Storey is having success somewhere away from Chad. SMU is thriving (hint: No Chad).

Maybe the problem isnt the Jimmies and Joes on the field but instead the ones in the coaching staff (and aggy Chad)?

I hate to put the boots in while someone is down but of the 5 QBs we have had start a game all of them either regressed, transferred away, or dropped football completely.

Whatever they are doing, it ain't working. Which is a problem because this is an offense that is QB driven. Its not like the old Nutt offense where we could still win with game manager QB.

Hicks looked 100x better under Chad at SMU. I think this staff just isn't up to coaching at an SEC level.

Which still doesn't explain losing to San Jose State but who knows

The lack of sufficient numbers of SEC quality Jimmies and Joes is definitely a factor. It's not an excuse for SJSU though.

He actually hardly progressed. That is what is more alarming. He didn't get the name pick 6 hicks for nothing. He did it every year. He was only better because stepp turned 2 guys into starting NFL WRs.

I mean he went from 19 TDs to 15 INTs as a freshman to 32 TDs and 9 INTs as a sophomore, then Morris left to come here and under Dykes he had 19 TDs to 7 INTs.

But you're right it does help having Sutton and Quinn to throw to. I just don't get why we can't get Burks and Knox the ball like they did them.

I said this very thing in a different thread.

quote:

I get people calling for KJ to start and agree it'd be great to get him game experience to get ready for next year, but I'd rather not have these coaches ruin him.

We all joked about Nutt being the "QB Killa," but Morris and Craddock are much worse and churning through QBs at a rate I've never seen before.

They have the anti-Midas touch with QBs, and whoever they focus on turns to shite instead of gold.

Also, here's another WTF stat from the Morris era that I keep posting but yet is still just unbelievable:

quote:

In two seasons at Arkansas, Morris has had more starting QBs (5) than wins (4).

because only 1 of them was in at times so he could be double teamed. and then when you had both weve played teams with dbacks stronger than anyone sutton played against
