I feel bad for the kid. He’s got some scholarship offers from lesser programs but they’ve all offered so late that he wasn’t really able to explore them.
He can still explore them. The signing period goes through mid April. Even then it doesn't matter. He doesn't have to sign anywhere. He can just enroll at his school of choice when he & they are ready.

Schools don't wait on guys like Brady Ward to commit after NSD. Even the small schools. He's no Kozan. You get an offer and you commit to it or they move on

Anyway, sounds like his family doesn't mind paying his way until he's on scholarship. His full attention is on the big D1 programs that are offering greyshirts and blueshirts

a blue shirt opportunity which means we can put him on scholarship in the fall without him counting against our 25.
No for this year. Would still count against next year's 25 limit.

The blueshirt rule allows schools to put "unrecruited" athletes on scholarship once they arrive on campus, but count them against the next year's scholarship total, as long as they don't play

I'm guessing post-spring depth charts will shake loose a new bunch of transfer OTs
Should shake loose some at least.

Pate stats:

quote:

For the season, the 6-feet-1, 205-pound Pate was 229-of-306 passing for 3,139 yards, 41 touchdowns and three interceptions.

75% completion percentage. Playing behind Taulia and eventually getting one year at the helm really hurt his stock.

Taulia’s senior year: 261 of 426 for 3681 yards (61.2%), 35 TDs and 5 INTs

Only having one year because he was behind two D1 Qbs hurt his stock that bad? I feel like there has to be more to the story. Especially when his stats were that good. Is it his size?

6’1 puts him bigger than Taulia (Tua listed as 6’1) & 207 is his listed weight which isn’t bad either. They’re both probably better overall athletes but probably not enough to create that much difference

Just watching his senior highlights:
- Good escapability, some QB runs mixed in but probably doesn’t play at the next level. Good pocket awareness
- Tight spiral on passes, looks like he’s got some zip on the ball
- throws 25-35 yards often and with relative ease
- a few 40+ passes but not enough to gauge his arm strength
- doesn’t go through many (if any) reads
- 3/4 arm slot release that gets a little lower when he’s in a hurry. He gets a little squatty in general when hurried
- feet seem fine. Does what every QB does now: wide stance, clap to snap. But squares up his throws

Wouldn’t go that far but Baker’s HS film wasn’t inspiring

They’re kinda similar... under 6-3 with escapability... and had to walk on.

Tua did not play high school ball at Thompson, only his brother did. Tua played high school football in Hawaii.

You’re right. I thought his senior season was at Thompson

Amarius Mims is announcing something tonight.

Maybe top ten. Maybe committing to either Georgia or Auburn.

Maybe he’s coming out of the closet. Who knows.

Whatever it is, I am sure we will be rational about it.
