You aren't.

The remaining value of his contract is indeed $35M, but his buyout is 75% of that remaining value, so he would be owed $26,625,000. Still outrageous, but not the amount it would have been if we had been foolish enough to guarantee 100% of his remaining salary.

Nobody's that short-sighted.

In all seriousness, he shouldn’t get fired for 8-4 or better. Freshman QB and ridiculously difficult schedule.

So even more likely he gets canned. I missed the 75% part. That's alot of money they don't* have to pay. That practically guarantees his departure at 8-4.

He could save himself another year or two doing what Paul Johnson did and renegotiate down.
