Arkansas State was ranked higher than Syracuse? Interesting.
Quite frankly, it bothers me that so many are trashing Notre Dame and thinking we're going to come away with a big, runaway win. Maybe, but I don't think so.
ND has all the motivation they need. UGA should win, but I'm expecting a closer game than most are.
Auburn's definitely ranked too high.

It's not new and ESPN didn't create it, they bought it and the guy who created it.

SP+ has been around for several years now, and always has some odd numbers to start the year. It takes him I think 4 weeks to get last seasons results and stuff like returning production filtered out to the point that its solely based on this season's numbers.
The system typically beats the spread more than 50% of the time, and I don't know what it does straight up. But anything over 50% against the spread is damned good.

ND is famous for being a media darling and over ranked. UGA is probably the most talented team in the SEC as far as the starting 22(a lot of 5 stars in that lineup). So I can see UGA winning by 3 or 4 scores, if they play their best game vs ND's best game.

I think many of them would be the first to admit this. They don't suck, and have a good win, but I am willing to bet there are at least 10 teams better than Auburn. Just my opinion.

As rated above, this is an analytic system that typically does a good job, but can take half a year or more to reflect correctly. The preseason rankings weight 2 and 5 year recruiting averages pretty heavily, along with returning production and other factors.
Bama started the year ahead of Clemson I believe because they outrecruited them, and they returned a similar amount of production.
Similarly, South Carolina is going to be above unc for the same factors.
The system isn’t perfect, and Bill admits that. It does a nice job, though, and provides better level of context than just wins and losses.

I really appreciate you taking the time to share that. I have a much better understanding of it now.

First poll to rank Wisconsin properly. They are a very good team.

Not one of you tards can explain Mississippi State being ranked 13th. I didn’t mention anything about my team because it’s close to normal ranking anyhow. No Auburn and Florida should not be ranked in top 10 maybe 15-20 yes. To put Bama in front of Clemson when they have played no one and have given up more points in their last game than Clemson almost has all season is a bit crazy also. I know Clemson’s offense numbers are lower but they also played a good to decent A@M team.
