Particularly when we are on defense, and especially when the defense is on its heals?

1) How many games does Bama play (and Saban coach) that are in any way in doubt enough to care about timeouts, or care about halting the games to regroup the D? Three or 4 per year? In our last game...what?...should Saban have called timeouts so that we could beat SoCar by 5 scores instead of 4? (garbage TD doesn't matter)

2) It's very logical that Saban wants his defense to learn to adapt to, play through, and overcome adversity - and what better way to foster those ideas than letting some adversity happen?

Perhaps it's because most of the games are never in doubt? Unlike us, I don't think Saban cares too much about stats. He just wants to win the game and see improvement in his team.
