Gus Play-calling and Notable Changes

While the overall consistent success for 4 quarters isn’t there, he is doing things differently than previous seasons:
-Not settling when in FG range
-Lot of passing against an inferior team to practice and get Nix game reps
-Tried to settle on a RB before the 3rd or 4th game
-QB was settled before game 1
-Actually admitted play calling mistakes (i.e. not giving Nix easier plays to start the Oregon game)
What say you haters?

Inside zone after a first down is his go to.
Joiner runs only wheel routes.
Gus is predictable.
I hope he is just putting very few plays on tape and will surprise the tougher competition with some more diverse calls.
Gus called a good screen pass last week. Bo missed an open Hastings streaking down the sideline.
I hope we win every game, but thus far play calling has been vanillla.

We’ve thrown to TEs some. I guess that’s been new

Both of those were mistakes. Put them on the field. Let their actually game film decide who should start, instead of limited live action in practice.

Canella is mostly split out.
I have not seen him truly line up as a TE.
Nigh and Shenker have been targeted.
When is JayJay Wilson getting a target?

You might be one of the only ones but the board flips their shite when multiple QBs are played. “Doesn’t he have enough info with practices, scrimmages, etc.?”

I’m not panicky like many of the others. I am concerned about OL, RB, Injuries.

This doesn't work 98% of the time and he continues to call it. And what's so maddening about it is when he goes against this tendency it usually results in another huge play instead of a drive killer.
Every team knows this play it's beyond me why it's still in the playbook.

The OL will be the Achilles heel of this season. No matter how much moxie Bo has, I fear he’ll be running for his life most of the season.

This has to be gamesmanship or else ALL the beat reporters and insiders have lied to us throughout the preseason and fall camp.

^should be part of a AU football drinking game.
1. If Gus runs inside zone quickly after a big first down, drink a shot.
2. If Joiner runs a wheel route, drink.
3. If a long pass is thrown to a WR with a huge cast on his hand, drink.
4, others?

Congrats Chex. Your qb and his 47% completion percentage has really showed Jville.

Gus definitely is the type who holds stuff back. We all know how paranoid he is. This is why I am willing to wait until after TAMU before I panic.
Personally I think it's dumb. Gus has been around long enough that people know what he does. Just do it. Stop trying to "hide it" for future opponents.

Your opinion is irrelevant. Maybe he works out better than your other boy, Sean White. He really worked out great.

You're going to give the entire fanbase alcohol poisoning!
