ESPN - Alabama has company, it's Alabama, LSU, Ga, and Aub

ESPN - It isn't Alabama-and-everyone-else, at least not based on the two-week snapshot we have. It's Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Auburn. With LSU's win at Texas, a game in which quarterback Joe Burrow catapulted himself into the Heisman conversation, the Tigers legitimized their playoff hopes and made their case for a top-four ranking in the next AP Top 25.
Consider this: ESPN's FPI projects LSU to win each of its remaining games except a Nov. 9 trip to Alabama (31.3%). What if that's LSU's only loss and Bama wins the SEC? We've seen an SEC team finish in the top four without winning the West (Alabama). The same question can be asked for Auburn, which has its own thrilling nonconference win over Oregon.
What if ... LSU and Georgia finish with one loss, each to the SEC champ, Alabama?
OK, OK, we're jumping ahead here, but the SEC's performances the past two weeks have opened the door to the possibility of multiple SEC teams finishing in the top four. Again.
That could make life difficult, of course, for the other Power 5 conference champions that finish with at least one loss, especially if Texas runs the table and wins the Big 12. Yes, Oklahoma is the conference's team to beat until proven otherwise, but it's hardly as if Texas fell apart against a talented LSU team. If LSU and Texas are both in the mix -- and Texas has a league title and LSU doesn't -- things could get very tricky for the selection committee.

Top of the SEC looks pretty good this year. Should be fun.

ESPN has to drum up drama somehow. When Alabama's defense makes Joe Burrow a vegetable in two months, I'm sure ESPN will find another narrative to latch onto to drive up ratings.

Didn't read, UK is winning the conference.

SEC leader Burrow and his three SEC league-leading receivers don't need much drumming up.

A long way to go, but, LSU certainly has proven more than anybody else.

Your front seven is trash.
They won’t touch Quick Draw Joe.

We’re currently the #1 defense in the SEC. I know that doesn’t mean much after two weeks, but there it is.

LSU has the top passing QB and top 3 receivers leading the SEC after it's game with Texas. I know that doesn't mean much to Alabama fans, but there it is.

I’m not sold on Auburn being in that conversation quite yet.

LSU moved the ball and put up points vs what is likely a better Bama D in Tuscaloosa 2 years ago with Canada’s scheme. I think this year’s offense will do the same. This offense is built to attack a team like Bama in a way that last year’s offense wasn’t. The issue will be whether they can put up enough points, and that’s a big if considering Bama’s offense. It should be a lot more interesting this year, if nothing else.

This! Alabama's Dline is not suspect, but it's secondary is.

And that only happened because the team they were contending with for the 4th spot had 2 losses not 1, 1 of which was one of the most embarrassing losses of the year. If the other main players this year only have 1 loss lsu will be skipped and then they'll complain about a bama bias that doesn't exist

Nick Saban became very irritated when a reporter noted that Bama fans want better OOC opponents.
