This is a whole different year for CU and how they handle it will determine the future of their program. What they have done in the past has no bearing on this year.

Several factors people need to consider:

1) This started with D Watson at QB. Easy to make a strong run with him at QB just like UF with Tebow. Those type of QBs only come around every so often. And it was just not the talent he had but his ability to lead when team was down and his ability to carry a team. Trevor may have the talent but I have yet to see him have to put a team on his back and carry them to a victory. Last year it was his D that carried that team.

2) The defense was also special. When was the last time any college team return 4 starters on the DL for their senior year that would have all been drafted as juniors with at least 3 of them going 1st round as juniors? Saban has never had that happened. That D may be solid again this year but there is no way to reload that kind of experience, leadership, and talent.

3) Dabo may be their biggest liability this year. It is easy to play the hunter but to be hunted only Saban has proven over his tenure can handle it. Meyer could not at UF or OSU. Dabo all summer has seem frustrated with all the praise his team is getting and every chance he gets wants to sell his team as the underdog. This is where he shows he can sustain the success or not.

Dynasties sustain for a long period of time including years mixed in where they do not win it all. Clemson has made a great run but they are yet to be a dynasty. And yes they may get(should) back to the playoffs but I do not see them winnings a title this year.
