It seems the consensus thought is that the West will finish like this-

1. Bama

2. LSU

3-5. Auburn/MSU/A&M

6-7. Ole Miss/Arkansas

Obviously everyone agrees that Bama is in a tier of its own at #1, and then Ole Miss and Arkansas are in the bottom tier. My question is why has everyone put LSU at #2 in a tier of its own? I get bunching A&M, Auburn and State together in the middle of the pack tier, but why is everyone so confident that LSU is clearly ahead of the middle tier? There is no doubt in my mind that LSU could finish 2nd in the west, and probably have the best probability of finishing there, but I’m just not so sure that they are clearly ahead of the A&M/Auburn/State group.

I’m not sure there is a poster here that is consistently as wrong as you are. Every place needs one, I guess.

So here’s to you

A&M definitely surpasses LSU this season. LSU gets rid of Coach O in the offseason and makes another bad hire, like UCF’s current coach who is just riding the coat tails of Scott Frost at the moment.

LSU finished 3rd last year, but they return a lot of talent and there are more unknowns at A&M/MSU/Auburn. So it's no wonder they are a good #2 on paper. We shall see how it plays out though.

Speak up.

It's hard to hear you down there at #8!

He makes some good points, you're just butthurt because you're sporting purple and gold. I think the gap between LSU and Auburn/A&M/MSU is a lot smaller than the gap between Bama and LSU.

I am never butthurt, sir. How dare you.

Just looking at recruiting classes alone, if this is true, LSU is worse shape than any of us possibly imagined.

Any metric you prefer to look at will plainly show that LSU is ahead in just about every measurable category.

Take off your Maroon and white glasses if you want to be objective.

Well, if I were going to regroup it, it would be more like:

1. Bama
2-4. LSU/Auburn/A&M
5. MSU
6/7. Ole Miss/Arkansas

Feel better?

Then how do you explain last years standings? That's the only point of this thread.

You mean the ones that had LSU as the second highest ranked SEC team?

Ahead of the pitiful east champions

And I didn’t see MSU. Sorry.
