Really surprised on this one. Thought for sure this kid was going to Oregon.

Nice job by Brick Haley here

He has a long road ahead of him to qualify. Great athlete though.

We talked about this in the Dillon Johnson thread. Oregon passed. He came up to our SNL camp and struggled and he’s 6’1”. He’s a much better fit in your scheme though. Kid looks like a brick house.

I am not sure about the grades though.

Of course its butthurt, that's the standard move around here.

"Oh we stopped recruiting him because he's not good enough/won't qualify."

Montra told Ole Miss reporters less than two weeks ago that Ole Miss and Florida State were tied at the top with Mississippi State in 3rd. I think it’s fair to say both in-state schools passed. That’s not to say Edwards isn’t a good player because he definitely is but I think both in-state schools just had guys higher guys on their boards. Still a good pick up for you guys.

I don’t know what Mizzou fans expect. This is an iteration of what was said a month ago. Go look it up in the Dillon Johnson thread. Everyone has said they’re passing way before he committed to Mizzou.

He had a damn countdown clock on his IG story for his commitment right after our Saturday night live camp.

Our insiders said he showed up and was 6’1” 288 and not 6’3”. He also struggled in the camp. I personally can’t understand what was expected with a kid that’s a run stopper in shorts and a t shirt. I think Oregon sees a low ceiling in pass rush and we are not willing to work with that. However, the kid wades through traffic really well against the run.

Yes, they're insiders whom I've followed for years and are generally right.

I mean, maybe these schools passed on him. It’s cool, I don’t really care. Like I said, his commitment kind of came out of nowhere.

He had 102 tackles and 25 TFL last year. He’s strong as a horse. He’s very good fit for us as a nose.

I’d normally doubt us taking such a qualification risk at this point in the cycle. That really hasn’t been Odom’s style. (He’s take a couple sign and place in state kids, but I think we’ve only had one out of state kid not qualify in all of his classes)

BUT, I can see taking a chance at DT. Our recruiting has not been especially strong here. A bunch of under the radar kids that need to add a lot of weight. Could end up being a problem soon.

Lol this isn’t butthurt at all. It’s been stated multiple times in multiple threads before he commit that State was full on D-line and Ole Miss is holding out for higher guys like Thomas and Jackson.

Kid is a brick house and Oregon fans were disappointed to hear the news. Anyway, I never heard anything about grades from our side. I brought it up but that was never confirmed. The kid is a coach’s son, so I was surprised to hear he was a grade risk.

I think it really came down to our staff wanting a little more length and the ability to add weight. Afaese and Shipley are taller and they want a really big body at NT. Montra is pretty filled out at 288.

Brick haley sucks. I'm so glad he's not at lsu anymore. Chavis as well, but that goes without saying. Sure, they both did good at lsu with elite talent but you saw what happened at tamu for chavis and texas with haley when they went there and now Arkansas for Chavis. He doesn't do well when he can't just out talent other teams and that's a fact.

I’d guess we probably just move on. We were willing to take a chance on him, but I’m betting he just burned that bridge

Stupid move by the kid. Hell only end up at State if they lose some guys and Ole Miss if they miss on multiple guys. Bad move burning bridges with an Sec school. If he’s not careful he’ll end up at Southern Miss
