This is the latest in Stadium’s “Conference Chain of Command” series in which we polled a handful of veteran coaches in every league to determine the best JOBS in each league, all the way down to the ones that are the most difficult. Here are the eight categories that were utilized to determine the overall rankings. Tradition – The history of the program Media Exposure – Games on national television Game Atmosphere – Includes attendance Budget/Resources – Includes coaches’ salaries, recruiting budget, travel budget, private planes, cost of attendance, etc. Buy Games – Programs who are bought the fewest number of times will rank first Geographical Recruiting Base – Proximity to players Facilities – Not just the arena, but also practice facilities, weight room, locker rooms, etc. Selling Pros – Being able to sell not only NBA players, but also those who play overseas
quote:
1. KENTUCKY (110) – It’s arguably the best program in the country with more wins than anyone else, and also a record 59 NCAA Tournament appearances. The Wildcats have won eight national titles, but just one in the last 20 years. They have history, support, pros, TV exposure — virtually anything and everything you’d want.
Where they win: “Where don’t they win? They have absolutely everything. Resources, support, and they don’t have to recruit sh*theads. They can basically recruit whoever they want.” – SEC assistant coach
Where they lose: “The expectations. The fans are insane and expect you to go to the Final Four every year.” – SEC head coach
2. Florida
3. Arkansas
4. Tennessee
5. Missouri
6. LSU
7. Texas A&M
8. Alabama
9. Auburn
10. Georgia
11. Vanderbilt
12. South Carolina
13. Ole Miss
14. MISSISSIPPI STATE (18) – The Bulldogs have made the Sweet 16 on three occasions — in 1963, 1995 and 1996 — and went to the Final Four in 1996. Mississippi State has put out some pros, but the job ranks in the bottom two in the league in history, TV exposure, recruiting base, facilities, game atmosphere and budget.
Where they win: “I’m not sure where they win, but you win when you get on the plane to leave Starkville. Okay, fine — you want something good? The practice facility is big-time.” – SEC assistant coach
The knock: “It’s the worst town in the SEC, and there’s not even a close second.” – SEC assistant coach
Full List
Interesting exercise, but remember in the ACC version of this Louisville ranked ahead of Duke and UNC.

12. South Carolina - They also need to upgrade their facilities.
Clearly SC's facilities are good enough to host the NCAA Tournament, so I'm not sure what is going on here.

Water is wet. This is not insider info.

Yeah there are some strange things going on in some of those categories. I've been to a game at every arena in the league except The Hump and the order there is very curious as well imo.

If A&M is actually 7th best then y’all got some problems.

Would argue VOLS are a better job today than Arkansas is but not too bad

Pretty accurate. If we got a new Arena I would move Bama up to 5.

Surely if Arkansas were a better job, they would have been able to muster up at least 1 sweet 16 in the past 20 years.

Look at the chart, Dude. Only category Tennessee beats Arkansas in is "Buy Games" LMFAO.Even recruiting base is basically a wash; Arkansas recruiting base in basketball is considerably better than in Football. Be happy they gave y'all 4th. I'd have you 5th, and that is with a nice bump for the top shelf arena you have. To me, Mizzou is the clear #4 in the SEC. Mizzou and Arkansas both suffer from SEC fans of other schools omitting all of their history before expansion. I routinely see Arkansas listed as "zero conference titles" in football when we have like 17 iirc, for instance.

Ok then since we have a final four I guess that makes us a better job than Tennessee

NCAA.com had an article a while back that ranked football and men's basketball combined and both Ark and Tenn were in the top 10 (tied at no. 9 all time). The surprise for a lot of folks (not a big one if you follow basketball more closely) was that Alabama was also on the list (tied for 4th**).
**Obviously, football boosted them quite a bit but Bama's basketball program has a very solid history that's often overlooked.
Bama, Ark, and Tenn were the only three SEC teams on the list and all three were in the top 10.
