I think Armstrong could possibly be the DC here in another year or two (just don't see longevity from Steele). I'd think long and hard about going to Gainesville and jumping on a very unsteady ship.

I guess it comes down to the old bird in hand adage. He had the possibility to impress Saban enough to be Steele's eventual replacement, or he could become the co-DC/play caller at UF now.

He's never worked with Saban before so there is a possibility that they don't mesh down the line, but he has worked with Napier so he knows what he is getting into with him. And yeah, there's a chance that Napier doesn't last long at UF, but even if that is the case Armstrong will still have DC experience at a top SEC school under his belt (not to mention the significant pay raise he'll be getting) added to the fact that he was already seen has a big up and coming coach. So I'm sure finding a job after his UF gig won't be an issue for him.

I admit that I was pretty excited to see what he could do at Bama, but I also understand that it's hard to turn down the DC position at UF when you are currently just a LB coach.
