Bowl games have already lost importance … might as well make things more important for few more teams and cut down on opt outs

I am not a big fan of Danny Kanell but he said instead of giving the guys bowl swag for attending the bowl game they should give each of them 10-20k for playing in the bowl game. I kind of agree as it may entice players to play the game.

But in the end I feel there are way to many bowl games and just not the national interest to watch them all.

Interest used to be there but not anymore. I watched less bowl games this year than ever before . Covid cancellations didn’t help either but it is the playoffs or bust pretty much now. Sad really

I like the 12 teams and 1-4 get byes

How do you determine who is worth the 10-20K? All-conference, or starters, or kicker. Who? Could anybody on the 2 deep opt out only to pick up some cash?

I doubt most bowls could afford that. Those swag bags are limited to 500 dollars in goods, I think .

Danny failed math.

10k to just each scholarship player on both teams would be $1.7 million.

That's more than the entire payout for several of the bowl games.
