I feel like Auburn used to beat Florida quite often when they weren't supposed to...
1993, 1994, 2001, 2006, 2007.
Those were all Auburn wins against Top 5 ranked Florida teams. That was a great series. It's a shame it was a casualty to expansion.

JonMwan Vs. Gatorbait2008 for biggest idiot Florida fan would be a great matchup. Too close to call.

Auburn had a legit team that year and it was a night game in Jordan Hare. I have no idea how they got blown out by both Arky and Georgia.

Upon review, all three of these series for Florida have been remarkably similar over the past 50 years.
From 1969-2018:
Florida's winning percentage against...
Georgia is 53.0% (26-23-1)
Auburn is 55.3% (21-17)
LSU is 56.3% (26-20-2)
Florida's Average Margin of Victory against...
Georgia is +2.74 points/game
Auburn is +3.24 points/game
LSU is +4.54 points/game
Percentage of matchups decided by 10 points or fewer:
Florida vs. Georgia: 46.0%
Florida vs. Auburn: 42.1%
Florida vs. LSU: 39.6%
Percentage of matchups featuring two ranked times at the time of the game:
Florida vs. LSU: 50.0%
Florida vs. Auburn: 42.1%
Florida vs. Georgia: 42.0%
All metrics are very similar for all three series. It seems Georgia has performed slightly better than the other two programs against Florida, with LSU performing every so slightly the worst against the Gators. Oddly, the Florida-LSU game is more likely to feature two ranked teams at the time of the game despite it being the ever so slightly least competitive among the three series.

If you've followed Auburn football for the last generation, you know exactly how it happened.

They beat LSU that year too (who finished #3). The Georgia game was ridiculous.

After looking over all of these series, its crazy to me that Florida and Auburn have played just one time in the last 11 seasons.
To me, this game was arguably the conferences's best rivalry in the 1980s and 1990s.
From 1983-2000, Auburn and Florida faced off 19 times. At least one team was ranked every time they played, and at least one of the teams was ranked in the Top 10 in 17 of the 19 meetings.
Both teams were ranked in the Top 20 during 13 of those 19 games. In those 13 games, the average ranking for each team was #7 for Florida and #10 for Auburn.
Those were some big games at the time between arguably the two best programs in the conference during that era. During the same period of years, 1983-2000:
Weeks spend in the Top 25:
246- Florida
228- Auburn
220- Alabama
215- Tennessee
173- Georgia
129- LSU
It's unfathomable that right around the end of this era, the SEC made the decision to halt the rivalry on an annual basis.

Arkansas was really good that year too and their run game went off on Auburn.
Georgia beat them because they harassed the hell out of Brandon Cox and Stafford played by far the best game of his freshman season. That game was bizarre.

I don't get the chest thumping by the buttsniffers, they beat us in 2017 and 2018. We beat the crap out of them in 2015 27-3 in a game that wasn't even that close and then in 2016 we beat Smart 24-10.
That aint dominance. Far from it.

My philosophy on Auburn has always been to worry about them when nobody else does and don't worry about them when everyone else is pumping them.

For some reason Georgia just beats Auburn. Even when we shouldn't something happens.

What has that got to do with this thread? We can get along and discuss, or you can spin this totally out of control by derailing the thread. The Georgia fans in this thread are being gracious and not focusing on the last couple of years, and have even acknowledged that Florida has, for the most part, been the better team the last 50 years. Take the compliments and don't derail.

The 2001 VOLS - UF game is still my favorite game OAT. What a show that was start to finish

2014,2015,2017 were all pretty close games that could have gone either way.
It's an interesting "rivalry" (Overused word?).

That may have been the best SEC game I've ever watched

Stadium was like a time bomb that night. One of the loudest times I have spent there
