I've read this before, some reference about Coach Dye's pants. What was the real story ? Is it just a joke ?
If so, tell the joke, it's piqued my curiosity!

He literally lost his pants in Lake Martin and they were found a few years ago.
Pat Dye is the most perfect example of SEC football pre-ESPN/nationalization that there is.

A number of years ago, a woman found a pair of plaid pants in Lake Martin. They had been lost in the early 80's. They had Dye's keys, his DL, and his AU issued credit card in the pocket. Famously, Dye said he had absolutely no recollection of losing them.

Fain Die, an old slobbering, nasty drunk that used to be auburn's coach went fishing on 'da lake and came home without his pants one steamy night down in Opelika.
20 years later, someone found his pants with wallet, car keys, credit cards etc. in a partially dried up lake.
Rumour has it that he got a train ran on him by his buddies and came home drunk off his arse without his pants. In the excitement of the moment, plus being hammered, he forgot his pants. How else does a man in his mid-40's simply lose his pants?
