From a rear end collision??? How fast did that kid have to be driving to kill 2 people by running into the back of their car?!

Front airbags rarely deploy from a rear impact, and if the kid plowed into them at ~60MPH it definitely could have caused enough force for catastrophic head and neck trauma even if their seat belts worked properly.

I'd bet money the fricker was texting and driving, further reinforcing my opinion that smartphones should be like alcohol or tobacco and not legal to possess until you turn 18 or 21.

My kids aren't getting a smartphone until they purchase it with their own money. I want them to grow up with at least basic social skills.

Can we wait for more information before charging this kid with manslaughter?

I don't know about that but it's now illegal in Georgia to text while driving, as it should be. I expect that will be the case in every state, eventually.
