If he was in that kind of danger im guessing he would have just entered the draft and try his chances

That's why I question the rumor. It makes no sense for him to blow everything during his senior year.

IIRC, senior John Jenkins was academically ineligible for his last game in Athens (the bowl game after the 2012 SECCG). It isn't unheard of.
