"On Tuesday, speaking to the Houston Quarterback Club, Texas A&M head football coach Jimbo Fisher had this to say about college players leaving early for the NFL draft.
“If you’re not going in the first two rounds, don’t even think about it,” Fisher said."

If I were 30 years younger and had enough talent to be drafted in the 5th round, worst case I'm able to retire very very early. Best case I stretch my NFL career into a few years and never have to work again.

Yes, and it's still BS. Tired of these coaches putting their program above the player.
Go in the third round for good money and be set for life or take a chance and come back with a chance of getting hurt or your stock falling.

2) You got ANY idea what a 3rd and lower kid gets guaranteed?...obviously you don't.
There ain't no "set for life" money coming out of those contracts.
It amazes me how many posters around here are smarter than the BEST college head coaches in the country. Schools should be coming to tRant for coach hires.

Even if it’s 500k/year, if they’re smart, they could be set for life. But, gold chains and $120k cars are the priority

A dicke riding situation? You're right, I avoid those at all cost

You think these guys give a shite what happens to these players once they are out of the program All they care about is getting as much use out of them as they can

I all honesty it really depends on the players situation. If they had a stand out year and are rated a 4th round pick with not a lot of promising sign to approve upon that then by all means go take your shot. If another player is projected 4th and was plagued by injuries or a few poor performances etc then it may benefit them to come back

Yeah, it’s dumb as frick.

Don't you see that a successful NFLer from a coaches program is the best recruiting tool a coach has?

Fourth round and below contracts are not guaranteed. You may see your signing bonus and then get cut in camp and that is it

Of course they care. Do you think head coaches are like some kind of evil cartoon characters? Why do you think Bama has so many former players that come back to campus? Hell Saban was getting rehab on his hip and Julio Jones was sitting in the room with him during it. I dont understand why ppl are so cynical about this.
