Not a Bama fan, but I have a keen interest in their program.
Nick Saban is overrated.
He can recruit (which is due to paying recruits yuge sums of money) but he is not a good coach. Year after year he has the most talented team in America (via cheating), yet he still gets clobbered.

Nick Saban left LSU because he hated everything about his existence there.

Well he only stayed at LSU for 5 seasons. He is about to be at Alabama for season 13. He was miserable at LSU. You don't stay somewhere for 13 years if you are miserable. He has also beat LSU 8 times in a row and counting.

Nick Saban has stated multiple times that he stayed at Alabama because he felt bad for the state. I believe his exact words were “What else do they have down here? They need this.”

His willingness to out work, adapt with the ever evolving game, and his elite organizational skills are hard to match from any other college HC today.
He knows how to build and sustain a consistently successful team across all facets in spite of having a virtual revolving door on his staff and roster. His ability to manage the elite level talent he has had in the last dozen years without having an enormous locker room implosion is phenomenal.
Congrats to LSU though, they replaced Saban with another elite level HC in Les Miles and it appears they've got a great players coach on staff now in Ed Orgeron who's laser focused on bringing in talent AND great assistants for the future.
