He hit it out of the stadium.

What a double play!
Bases loaded, 1 out. Cubs pitcher up.
He misses the bunt attempt, runner on 3rd gets caught in a run down, tagged out, then they catch the runner on 2nd trying to move over to 3rd.
2-5-6 DP

Ozzie with a 2 run HR.
3-2 Braves in the 7th.

Is Luke Jackson getting warmed up yet? We need a couple insurance runs to insure the save.

Playoff type ball there. Good pitching on both sides.
Will be interesting to see how Dallas does in his 2nd start.

Is Snit really going to run our position players into the ground AGAIN this year?
Looking that way...we have like 4 or 5 players that have started every single game.

this is not true. they have no player that has started every single game.

Hm ok...sorry I was mistaken.
The amount of playing time Markakis is getting is pretty wild though. Fully expecting a big drop off in the 2nd half again this year.

yeah, it pisses me off.
in a post game interview during the past week, Snitker was asked about rotating some guys in to rest some guys while taking advantage of the versatility of our bench, and Snitker said something similar to "we aren't built that way. we are a traditional set lineup and that's what we plan on doing moving forward". it pissed me off, to be honest, and goes against what they said before the season that they would look to give guys more time off.
I was just giving you a hard time with my response, but your point remains in that guys are playing way too much. I think it's ok for Freddie to play everyday. But Markakis has got to sit more, especially now that Camargo is hitting again. Markakis has already started his slide much earlier than last year.

Yeah, you would think with a righty going tonight Joyce will get the start over a struggling Markakis.

I would have thought that Monday was ideal for Markakis to sit against Lester, but Snit gonna Snit

Even Freddie's "2nd half splits" showed some wear last year when he started 160/162 games. He was still good but:
Before All-Star break versus After All-Star Break in 2018:
BA: .315 / .301
OBP: .405 / .362
SLG: .533 / .465
OPS: .938 / .827
These are not insignificant drops.
Markakis drop was even worse (started 162 games):
BA: .323 / .258
OBP: .389 / .332
SLG: .488 / .369
OPS: .877 / .701
Albies (who started 151 games which is more reasonable but it was 92/93 before the All-Star break - so he really wasn't given days off until his performance fell off a cliff - can't remember if there was a second half injury or not either):
BA: .281 / .226
OBP: .318 / .282
SLG: .516 / .342
OPS: .834 / .642
The above is terrible and, more importantly, instructive and potentially fixable.
But Snit says frick your high-falutin numbers and analytics because "we aren't built that way. we are a traditional set lineup and that's what we plan on doing moving forward."
I guess we will just see if we have shells of 1st half players out there for the playoffs this year again.

It would be nice from everyone to get the full all star break off but I voted for everyone.

MLB Games played leaders:
Semien • OAK 81
Laureano • OAK 80
Swanson • ATL 80
Merrifield • KCR 80
Markakis • ATL 80
Soler • KCR 80
Albies • ATL 80
Harper • PHI 79
Alonso • NYM 79
Chapman • OAK 79
Betts • BOS 79
Ahmed • ARI 79
Escobar • ARI 79
Villar • BAL 79
Santana • SEA 79
Acuna • ATL 79
Freeman • ATL 79
I really dislike that Snit or the FO is not using the quality of the Braves' bench to cycle in off days for the position players. Between Camargo, Joyce, Culberson, and Riley learning the outfield, there is a lot of versatility there.
