I'm not going to pretend to know a lot about it but Tim Williams took a solid 3 years to mold into a good SEC football player. He was raw as hell. That wasn't all competition level, but it probably had something to do with it.

I agree with the idea that the level of talent he played wasn't the best bit of you watch his highlights he does look very special. Time will tell but I honestly believe he has a good chance to be great.

That and he was just a very lazy player in high school. At 210lbs, Saban got him to buy in and actually contribute. Level of competition plays into that, but when John Curtis is also a 2A school (they were at the time, they've since been allowed to play up again), the size of the high school doesn't make that big of a difference.
