I got pretty heated about you guys calling Gafford a pussy and I apologize.

I should have chosen a different adjective instead of that word. It was wrong of me to call him that. I will still stand with my argument that there is something going on within that team related to both Mike and Gafford.

edit. I guess its more of a noun in the sense of how I used it.

Well, he shouldn't have quit the team. People say it's about getting hurt or whatever, but that's a damn excuse and anyone who has ever played the game knows it. You frickin get hurt sometimes. But you get back out on the damn court.

The culture in this country is going to shite. Young people have been taught it's okay to quit. I don't like it.

Now we are seeing eye-to-eye again brother.

Again, I understand fans and their love for players, but this is a business at the end of the day. Excuses are shite if you truly want to be great.

Feel like this is appropriate for a healing thread.

Man, it just rubs me the wrong way. That and the 900 transfers per year thing. I understand the "business" argument, but when we were coming up it was about genuine love for the game. We didn't really compete against another team so much as we chased perfection on the court. If I could have ever been accused of having autism in any way it would have been over the game of basketball.

Nobody I played with would have ever quit a team like that. No way.

Then you became an adult and realized it's a cash cow. There's no greater ROI than sports entertainment.

Here's a hint,
They got u!!

I'd still play all day every day if I didn't have other responsibilities. The love for the game will never go away for me. I find the idea of quitting on a team to avoid playing in a post season tournament unconscionable.

Can’t really blame him for not wanting to play in a meaningless tournament

I can.
Tournament time is the best time to play ball. He will never get that chance again.

The most fun times I've ever had in a gym was watching a game in person knowing you got the winner. Scouting someone in real time. It's a blast. Quitters quit - period.

Same! This week here has been warmer and my son & I have been getting back into baseball mode throwing the ball around. I have a nice new basketball hoop waiting to go up when it finally does get warmer. I'm watching March Madness like I always have and I'm on here talking with the crazies.

I will never give that up, but it's incredible to look into the economics of sports entertainment. It's Yuuuuuge!!

I'm also going to the Blues game tomorrow in Stl. Did think about going East to watch the hogs though. We will get in the vehicle and figure it out. Wife does want to go to STL though. I still have tons of homework to do too

Agreed but the NIT isn't that at all. Would be in agreement with you if he didn't want to play in the NCAA tournament.

I would definitely choose to go watch the Hogs play. They're playing in Bloomington. To me that's one of the Mecca's of the game.

He does fall down a lot, probably safer to sit out.

I think he should've played though.

Who is really behind this decision? Gafford because he doesn't need to, Gafford because it isn't safe? Gafford because he's already packed his bags? Gafford because he's lazy with a poor attitude?

No one knows besides Gafford. If he loved this team and state, I don't think missing a NIT would be something that falls under love. I think it falls under ME when his team has helped him.

It says general admission tickets are $49. I'm curious how many Hoosier fans will be there and total people. I've been to an NIT game before, but it wasn't GA.

If it was really the last one, why did he even come back? I get why people don't like Gafford or are frustrated with him but I think its hard to make the argument that he doesn't care. He gets too emotional in games and does let it effect his play but I don't think its because he is lazy or has a poor attitude in general.

Oh dude, I'm sure it'll be packed. Indiana basketball is on the rise again. They'll be there to support their team.

This is going to be a very difficult game for the Hogs. Gafford should be there.

If they win the game there's a good chance they'll play in Madison Square Garden. That's fricking HUGE for the rest of the guys on this team that won't have a basketball career beyond Fayetteville.

Gafford should be there.

Well, one of the criticisms by the pro scouts of the dude was that they question his work ethic.

Quitting the team all but verifies what those people were already saying, IMO.
