2020 - What are the biggest needs for this class?
After an amazing OL, DB, and DL recruiting call and an overall great class; what are the biggest needs for the 2020 class?
with the Beck decommittment is it QB? (Lia, Tyson, Hatcher)
If no TE is found to add to the 2019 signees, with this put additional pressure on TE position?
and should I even have to mention, Linebackers? a continued need for depth.

Got to be LB and WR. Need couple elite ILBs and the WR depth could take a huge hit with early departures if they have good years again which I see no way that they won’t with Tua at the helm

Not a recruiting or roster expert but it seems like WR, LB and TE will be very important for 2020 class.

After the Jeudy, Ruggs, Smith class the last two WR classes have been smaller. Time for another big WR class.

LB, ILB in particular, seemed like we missed on 1-2 guys leaving us with 2 in the 2019 class. 2018 wasn't huge there either so 2020 need to load up. Always a position where depth is needed.

TE - missed on the guy who went to Georgia this year. Need to double up on TEs next year hopefully with 1 stud TE/WR hybrid and the traditional TE mauler with good hands.

Late reply to an old(er) post: what are the biggest needs for the 2020 class?

Staff went all-in on Nakobe Dean, but struck out. Then we went all-in on the back-up plan: Henry To’oto’o (who we probably would have gone after even if we’d gotten Dean). Then Tosh left and To’oto’o started trending towards Tennessee after which we zeroed in on the back-up plan to the back-up plan: Daniel Heimuli. Again the word was that we would take both (To’oto’o plus Heimuli) if they would be willing to commit. During most of this time we had both Shane Lee and Christian Harris either committed or signed as ILBs. Alas, none of the above (Dean, To’oto’o, Heimuli) joined the Tide. Hence, it seems safe to say that the new coaching staff will aggressively target several ILBs during the upcoming recruiting cycle.

Other than ILB wide receiver should be high on the list. I believe Jeudy, Ruggs and Smith are all draft-eligible, with Jeudy a certainty to leave (high first round grade). If neither Smith or Ruggs struggle with injuries they could get first round grades as well and then declare for the draft. However, a factor that could trigger either Ruggs or Smith to stay is that when Jeudy is gone Smith or Ruggs get to be the lead receiver. Depending on who would be the quarterback and who would be the offensive coordinator in that year, that could prompt them to stay for their senior year. Lead receiver could mean a significantly higher draft grade. I think the current draft grade for Smith and Ruggs sits at round 1-2. Ruggs/Smith would like to see that become a solid 1st round or high 1st round grade. And maybe (wishful thinking!) that could entice them to stay another year.

Either way 2 or 3 of our top receivers could very well be gone after next season, leaving Waddle (as was said here before) as our no. 1 guy. I think we signed only Metchie this year at WR, which is definitely not enough to make up for the possible/likely loss of Jeudy, Ruggs and/or Smith.

So, for sure WR is a huge area of need. ILB was the last time so probably will be for the next/current cycle as well.
