Because ever since we found a steal of a 3 star back with Jacobs everyone is hoping the next 3 star back we're high on turns out as good.
Anyone with eyes could see Jacobs wasn't a three-star. Also Jacobs is nothing like Kyle Edwards from what I have seen.
Gibbs is actually very similar to Jacobs in their explosiveness, shifty ability and even how they are lowly rated gems which came on late in the recruiting window.
Gibbs is can't miss. Edwards is just anothet running back like Brian Robinson. It isn't that he is bad, it's that there is better and we have limited numbers we can take.

Will Anderson highlight reel.. wow. I like him a lot
Kid doesn't gave a ton of moves but damn is his quick to get up the field.
Definitely big get here. I really want to see how he will do in these allstar games.

Jacobs was also playing out of position as a QB on his high school team.

I appreciate your Gibbs enthusiasm but there's no such thing as a can't miss recruit. I agree he looks great but he's moved back his OV with us and it seems like either we're backing off him or he's backing off us. Maybe he's waiting to see if we flip another RB like McClellan or something. Who knows.

Let's agree to disagree because there are many examples of kids we couldn't miss on and they helped the program win championships.
There are also examples of kids we did miss on and it's why we suffered with good depth this season.
Anyways, I talked Jacobs up back then no differently than I am doing Gibbs now. There were many who couldn't see it and didn't like it because he was rated so low.
Jacobs was a can't miss kid. Gibbs for me is just like him but even more ability to evade. If we are slowing our recruitment on him for Kyle Edwards, in my opinion that is a horrible decision.

We have the slots and need a HR back. I would take him

There's also recruits people say we can't miss on that turn out to be total duds. I doubt we are backing off recruiting him for Edwards. I'm assuming it has to do with other priorities. I also think McClellan would be a perfect fit for us so I'm hoping the effort is going in to flipping him.

I think we need the depth anyway I could see Ford transferring for PT

Yep this. A lot of people said Anoma and Alfano were can't miss prospects. Or Ben Davis. How about BJ Scott and Star Jackson? Remember them? The list goes on. Nobody knows for sure how a high school kid is going to transition to the college level.

In the highlight film, I bet he went untouched to the running back / quarterback at least 25 times. In college someone will at least try to block him.
They are trying to block him. His first move is ridiculously quick. Reminds me of Quinnen last year. He's out of his stance and into the backfield before the OL can even get into position to block him.

Depth Distribution -- Unless Ford chooses to transfer, Najee is the only departure likely before next season and B-Rob is the only one after next season. If we have a rash of injuries, Bolden, Townsend and Story can play RB. We rarely use 2-RB formations. So, we really don't need to take 3 RBs in the 2020 cycle.
But, it does appear Bama wants Jase McClellan. Gibbs doesn't have a greenlight yet and his OV has been delayed until Jan. If Jase doesn't flip, Gibbs getting his spot could depend on other positions. Would adding Jase or Gibbs cause Edwards to decommit or Ford to transfer?

They were. We couldn't miss and we did.
Missing is what made this year even worse because had we had even just Eyabi it would have made a difference.

True but aside from Sanders ( which we haven’t seen and coming off injury and K Rob , who do we have that can carry the load ? BRob is not an every down back IMO and the staff seems to have little faith in Ford

Gonna have to disagree there. We didn't miss on them. We signed them and afforded them every opportunity to be successful. They turned out to be head cases. That's my point. Those two looked as ready for college ball as any prospect in recent years.

That's why Bama has these two RB commits: Roydell Williams and Kyle Edwards. I showed that Bama doesn't need to take three, that two is enough, but also that the door isn't shut on taking three. It appears Williams will definitely sign with UA. I mentioned some of the factors that could impact which 1-2 among McClellan, Edwards and Gibbs will end up signing with Bama. We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.

I see what you are saying but injuries can mount up at that position in a hurry and we do recruit need but Gibbs talent can be hard to pass up with potentially only 4 backs on the roster

It seems the staff sees more potential in McClellan than Gibbs. Seems like McClellan is one of those kids who has a spot if he wants one.

With his first step the first one I thought of was Tim Williams. Fast as hell of the edge.. but might be more situational
