Good to know.: I always thought it was a SEC rule not NCAA.. do you think it might be brought to the table to change it to 30? With all the transfers and injuries it’s starting to put kids in the field who are not physically ready and that can become a issue. Or at least that’s how I would spin it if I was a

I don't think the NCAA is very likely to loosen annual limits unless transfers reach the level where schools commonly can't hit the 85 total counters limit without resorting to awarding more than a few schollies to walkons. The 85 cap ÷ 4 years = about 21 departures/year. So, signing 25/year allows for attrition of 4/year. Maybe they'd consider adding an exception rule for extreme transfer-out attrition -- to allow for some replacements that wouldn't count against the 25 limits. For example, a team might have a terrible season or HC departure, resulting in 10 outbound transfers, along with 25 graduations and early departures to the NFL.

I'd like for the NCAA to raise the number from 85 up to 95. It would help the team, but more importantly, that's 10 more kids per team, that get to go to school for free.

That's a valid point that more kids could benefit. However, a lot of schools' athletic programs can't afford 95 schollies. Also, it'd likely reduce parity, since the talent-rich teams could get even deeper with talent, leaving the other teams less talented.

The flip side to that though is that is 10 more players that think they deserve playing time.

So, signing 25 per year allows for average attrition of about 4 per year. Perhaps they might consider an exception rule for cases of excessive transfer-out attrition that allows for taking some replacement transfers that don't count against 25 limits.
That is what needs to happen. Keep the initial counters at 25 for the incoming class but for transfers make an exception to only count against the 85 limit. Like to allow any grad transfer or transfer(granted immediate playing time) to another program to not count against the team they are leaving so they can replace without penalty.

Yea, I remember when they cut it down to 85 and said that it would help with parity. I don't really put much into the parity thing.

That's a fall for Reggie. From a 5-star to USCe,a team in turmoil. Hope USCe can steal Burch too in case he doesn't go with us.

Reggie's combine results are great for his size, which has been viewed as high upside potential. But he's still pretty raw and hasn't impressed at camps or playing this season. 247Sports and Rivals have dropped his rankings, but he's still way overrated by ESPN, which is boosting his Composite Ranking. It appears he's viewed as a project that might turn out like Ben Davis. So, it looks like he won't get a spot in Bama's class. Best wishes to him.

His recruitment has blown up with several good offers recently. His Bama OV was just moved up from Dec 13 to Nov 22. He'll graduate and sign in Dec and enroll in Jan. He's already taken OVs to UK and TAMU.

Williams still has one more game, as he and No. 3 nationally-ranked Hutchinson (KS) take on Monroe C.C. in the Salt City Bowl on Dec. 7. So far, as a sophomore this season, the Louisiana native has recorded 26 tackles, one tackle for loss, three interceptions and four pass breakups. He has already used his redshirt season so will have two to play two at his next stop. (Gigem247)

Tide among elite OL's finalists with decision approaching (BamaOnLine | segments)
2021 4-star OL Micah Morris 6-4/316 GA hudl
quote:
Alabama offensive line target Micah Morris, one of the top overall prospects in the 2021 class, will make his college decision on Dec. 17. On Monday evening he released his top six of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and South Carolina. Morris was back in town for the LSU game a couple weeks ago, which he estimates was his fourth or fifth visit to Tuscaloosa...
What’s on Morris’ checklist when looking at his top choices? “Number one is academics because I know eventually football is going to end... Next I have to say camaraderie between the players... all trying to reach the same goal, which is a national championship. Third I have to say the fan support... loyal and always rocking with their team no matter what it's looking like at the time.” Has Bama met those requirements? “Absolutely. They’ve checked all the boxes.”
Morris will be at Georgia this weekend and the Iron Bowl next week before making his decision.
