Just called and spoke with a very nice lady in President Pastides office. She suggest that we air our concerns with the communications office directly. They are the ones that came up with this wonderful idea.

That said, I have no idea what the other ones looked like before this. (The marketing and monogram ones)
The ones at the end don't seem like they've changed.
And at least we didn't change the sports logo/mascot. That's really all that matters to me.

I think the old logo was the Horseshoe gates and "1801". It looked much better, but I guess you wouldn't know it was South Carolina is you didn't know anything about the school.

I hope whoever made these decisions is seeing the hugely negative reaction to it from alumni and fans, and feels like a total twat.
Might as well start painting an "S" in front of "Carolina" in our endzones, and concede that one to UNC as well.

You don't see Tennessee or Texas do this dumb shite because they share the same initials for their university. Or Oregon State/Ohio State. Why should we change?

That was the formal one, all they did was take 1801 off it.
Only two that I've known in recent times have been the two at the ends. No changes to the sports logo and the formal one took the date off (no idea why)

Because we are a University
I agree this is fine in Sports, but it's the school that has this image.
Sports logo/mascot/image has gone unchanged from this.

Also from what I've read, the Marketing and Monogram logos are completely new. The way I read that is we didn't have anything for those 2 in the past
