Didn't this year's bowl season prove the bias in SEC Officiating? Bama probably had more penalties in the last 2 games than they did all season.

Had there been SEC officials last nights game would have been closer for Bama, and the OU game would have been a blowout.

I was thinking the exact same thing. The $abama players looked shocked to be stepping off penalties AGAINST themselves!!!!

And when they didn't they got killed. The fourth down play where the ran Tua to the shortside (left) it looked like a Clemson fire drill. I watched it a few times and Bama did not hold at all and there were 6 or 7 Clemson defenders in Bama's backfield before Tua started to run.

Some of the Bama players were probably asking what the yellow rags were that the refs were throwing around. They had seen them before but it was always for the other team so they never paid attention.

I have noticed much more competent and fair officiating when it's non-SEC refs.

It is not just the calls but the timing of the calls. Bama rarely ever sees a drive killer penalty. My bigger gripe though is that Bama never gets burned by the 50/50 calls or many critical calls are never called against them

Watching all of the playoff games revealed to me just how bad and inconsistent SEC officiating is, whether or not Bama is playing.

Think about how the game last night was officiated as compared to the Texas A&M game for instance.

This is what I said last night and people down voted and posted 29-0 under my thread. I don't give a damn. The obvious is clear. No SEC refs equal a fair game and an arse whopping for Bama. I'm not saying they are not a good team but those drive killing calls and 50/50 calls have to stop.

With SEC officials bama averaged 5.4 penalties for 46.8 yards per game.

Without SEC officials bama averaged 7.5 penalties for 73 yards per game.

There is a difference.

What conference were the refs from in last year's NC game when UGA got arse raped in the second half to manufacture Bama's "comeback"?

When Clemson went up 2 touchdowns and had the ball again, I kept waiting for the drive killing holding penalty after a big completion.

But the best was the look on Nick's face when he challenged the Clemson completion on the sideline in the 4th quarter and the reception was upheld.

I also found it interested that he did not "work the refs" like he does SEC refs. Maybe he knew his players were out matched or maybe he knew he didn't have any leverage with neutral officials?

You mean prove again? Prove further?

I didn't need anymore proof, and I hope nobody else here did either.

I was actually thinking the same thing, so I went back over the last two seasons and looked at Alabama's total number of penalties and penalty yardage in every game they've played.

I sorted pretty easily. All conference games and all Bama home games, and then all out of conference neutral site games and post season play.

I was actually kind of surprised to find that Bama averaged 4 penalties for 45 yards per game in that first category, and 6 penalties for 56 yards in the second category. So in games that are likely not officiated by an SEC crew, they average 2 more penalties and 11 more yards per game.

Clemson got away with a defensive holding or PI on an Alabama possession deep in Clemson territory. Turn about is fair play.

Feeling really bad for BAMA today. It just doesn’t seem fair to have non-SEC officials for such a big game! They picked on BAMA by calling 6 penalties on them and only 1 against Clemson! That just doesn’t seem fair at all! I think Saban needs to petition the NCAA to only allow experienced SEC officials for championship games!
I feel so bad for them!!!
NOT!!!

They had to play in a fair game, which isn't fair to their thinking.

no SEC Refs or home office to bend the rules.
a level playing field equals an uphill battle for the entitled Gumps.

I've asked this before on here, but why in todays college football do we still have conference specific referees? Why do we not have crews that travel from conference to conference? The college game has gotten too big and makes too much money to not have paid NCAA referees.

The game is not that dramatically different from conference to conference and travel cost should not be in the discussion. With the geographic size of these conferences now, getting on a plane and staying in a hotel is a must for these crews.

Neither team should know who the crew will be or what part of the country they are coming from. It's past time for this to happen.
