Actually no, that is part of what a conference is supposed to do. The Big 12 doesn’t because Texas runs it and Texas doesn’t need any more media exposure (and they don’t give a shite about what other programs need). But most conferences work to raise the profile of its member institutions.

You nailed it, that is exactly what is going on. Big 12 A&M had a recruiting floor in the 40s, meanwhile SEC A&M basically could never drop below 25 without something crazy happening. Just a new patch on the uniform changed the outlook of our program overnight.

Which is exactly why Texas wants to play us, the only way to negate our free SEC recruiting bonus is to beat us every year. Add that to what we add to their home schedule and playing us gives them a ton of benefits.

Us not so much.
