I lived with it for 36 years before getting it addressed. It was due to my extreme ADHD. Once I got on Vyvanse the depression went away. The anxiety is still there, but it is different

I know a way to cheer her up. I wish I hadn't have commented on this.

I appreciate it, truly. I have my 2nd session with a counselor tomorrow and they are looking for psychiatrist for referral. Damn, it’s hard to write those words about yourself.
You're doing the right thing. A lot of people, including me, have been there, and did not take the necessary steps to solve the problem and attempted to "tough it out." This only makes the depression deeper and longer. I wish that a few years ago I had been as smart, and had as much courage, as you do now.

To everyone who has shared their story, thank you for your courage. I suffer from really bad anxiety . I understand in ways what Makenzie is going through.
She mentioned something in the article that isn't mentioned enough. Nuerofeedback. Wish more people were aware of it.
American society as a whole lacks empathy and compassion for others especially with mental illnesses. We live in a very me society. Way too many people don't understand mental illness which ends up hurting or shaming those suffering.
