Benefits of a Soft OOC

A&M, LSU, and UK all finished 5-3 in the SEC. MSU finished 4-4. They all played fairly comparable conference schedules. with a slight edge to LSU for getting UGA & UF from the east.
Between the 4 here is how the did vs each other
A&M 2-1
LSU 1-1 (LSU also went 1-1 vs UF & UGA, impressive)
UK 1-1
MSU 1-2
Each of the 4 teams played one P5 OOC team.
A&M played 13-0 Clemson.
LSU, UK, and MSU marquee OOC foes combined for a 14-22 (only 1 more win than Clemson).
Here is how the final CFP Rankings sorted out.
11 LSU
14 UK
18 MSU
19 A&M
I am not one for moral victories, but I don't think I'd get much of a disagreement that taking Clemson to the wire (not dissimilar to UGA taking Bama to the wire) was more impressive than beating a bad to avg P5 team.
---
I think it is very clear that the committee cares more for inflated win totals than a challenging schedule when it comes to those outside of the top 4. Just some food for thought during this extended break before the bowls kick off.
Personally, I prefer an OOC with bigger match ups.

Is it fear?
Clemson, Notre Dame, Miami, Colorado, and Arizona State are all scheduled.

The 'resume' argument continues to beat out the 'best teams' argument

In the SEC currently, and I've said this before, it does teams no good to play difficult OOc teams with the meat grinder our conference season is. Same goes for baseball (not wholly relevant but our fans bitch about our OOC scheduling so I included it). Until the SEC is no longer as strong as it is, these marquee matchups serve no true benefit unless you are trying to make up for a bad loss somewhere else on your schedule. But I think the risk still far outweighs the benefits. With that said, they're still fun games to schedule and more interesting than filling your OOC schedule with 4 dud games.
LSU plays Auburn, Alabama, A&M, and Florida every year. Those 4 teams alone will generally produce a more difficult yearly schedule than other teams in other major conferences.

I can agree with Aggy not wanting to play Texas.
If the play Texas that gives Texas money.
Aggy hates Texas and doesn't wish to support their program anymore.
It is kind of like Alabama and UAB
Even though those 2 are both Members of the Alabama School System. Alabama doesn't want its 2 satellite campuses to have sports teams.
They don't want to play them because the money would support the programs they don't want.

Are you implying Texas is more terrifying than ND?

Texas reportedly asked other Big 12 teams to not schedule Texas A&M, either

The game benefits tu more than A&M at this point. Since joining the SEC, we don't need it. Simple as that.
Now I still understand the importance of a rival. That game was always big in Texas regardless of records. Maybe it'll come back someday when things are move settled/even (re conferences), but until then I am fine putting it off for other marquee matchups and road trips (Boulder, Miami, and Tempe, yes please!)

You think a loss is more impressive than a win?

So a a tough OOC schedule with ULM and Northwestern State was why Aggy got destroyed by MSU? Makes sense.

So basically your whining about not being 9-3?
Either way it's a season below what you want the average to be.

We beat you by 2 touchdowns guy. That's why we are ranked higher. Money can only get you so far.

I wouldn't expect someone from MS to actually understand a point.
