Your use of the word “us” implies that you (or in this instance, your team, Arkansas) are to be included within the group you are referring to. I assume this was a mistake because as it turns out, Arkansas actually isn’t participating in a bowl game, due to their embarrassing regular season record.
Unless the “us” you are referring to is the SEC, in which you are included. But In that case, Arkansas’s bowl ineligiblity due to their dreadful 2-10 record would make us (SEC) look much worse than whatever may happen with the teams with winning records that are participating in bowl games.
Maybe you should edit so it’s more clear.

Trust me when I say our 2-10 team not showing up anywhere is a hell of a lot less embarrassing than the LSU shitshow train rolling into town.
You may not believe this, but you have probably heard about not being able to smell your own body odor. It's a similar situation.
