Hypothetical 16 Team Playoff

If we jump straight to a 16 team playoff and only add 1 more game in the schedule, we can eliminate the ability for teams to sit at home on championship Saturday and still compete for the title.
10 Automatic bids - Earn a bid to your conference championship
6 At Large bids - Next highest 6 in the CFP rankings that follow the regular season
I realize this puts Pitt into the mix. But they would be playing in the ACC title anyway. This scenario makes it so Notre Dame has to play a game on December 1st instead of sitting at home. Kick off bowl season with the round of 8 on December 15th instead of watching two teams you don't care about. Have less crappy bowl games because 4 of them get promoted. Have fun matchups like LSU v Michigan and UCF v Florida in the first round.

Why stop at 16? Why not make it where everyone gets a do over.

The main flaw I see in your plan is that it values a bid to the BDF championship the same as a bid to the SEC championship. No way in hell those achievements are equivalent.

I just want the P5 Champions and 3 at larges.

That's about fricking retarded.
you managed to bring the worst of every type playoff into one bracket:
A. 16: too many teams
B. totally imbalanced layout.
you have in round 1
1 vs. 4, a 2 v. NR, 11 v. 17
C. Why bring in Pitt or Northwestern? Conferences aren't equal, and for damn sure, all the divisions are not equal. So, no need to equally reward all P5 division winners.
D. So, all the first round losers ( say a #4 UGA), their season is over the first day of December? No more looking forward to a New Year's Day bowl, etc?

No no no. 4-team playoff has ruined interest in the bowl games. An 8-team playoff would destroy the conferences. It would actually penalize the teams that played for a conference championship.
It was probably best with just two teams...or even before that when popularity contest after bowl game. Then a conference championship or a bowl win left everyone happy...now only one team ends the year happy.

This is nonsense as are most ideas outside of 4 teams, some decent ones with 6. Turn the whole fricking season into a tournament under your model.
