or northern Arkansas

There are a number of nice small towns in NW Arkansas that are close enough to the Ozarkopolis of Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, and Bentonville area that you could have a fairly short commute to work.

One of the better benefits of NW Arkansas is that its easy to enjoy a rural lifestyle while still being next door to a thriving town.

I've never been to the Lake Cumberland area of Kentucky but I've heard very good things about it.

My family has a place on the other side of Kentucky near Murray, Kentucky. That is also a nice town with a college (Murray State).

If I worked in Bentonville, I'd live in Gravette or Pea Ridge.

If I moved to "suburban" Fayetteville/Springdale, I'd move to Prairie Grove or Goshen.
