I wonder how many Georgians aren't really shitting directly into the streams...but have shite their pants and washed them in the stream.

It's almost like you read the article... Until it wasn't...

quote:

Before the students began, they speculated that they might see higher levels of E. coli contamination on UGA football game weekends, when tens of thousands of visitor flood the UGA campus. Sampling over two football seasons didn’t show that, though.

quote:

The analysis suggests the contamination is coming from leaks in sewer pipes somewhere upstream along the streams’ courses, said Kelly Strachan and Rishika Pandey, two of the UGA students. Further testing within the streams might help find where the pollution is coming from, they said.

Sooo... It's like no one is doing any of that shite, and instead there are infrastructure problems... Which is not uncommon in the south in general where these problems are swept under the rug as long as possible.

Isn't there like an open air sewer trench in Alabama somewhere?

They sampled Tanyard Creek at two places, at the Tate Student Center where it flows under the football stadium

"Professor Karls later determined that all of the fecal material had the same identical DNA.
Using PCR primers targeting 16S rRNA gene sequence, she matched the coliform bacteria with a sample present on the 2017 SEC championship field. She then determined that the fecal material originated from the University of Auburn football team, since they have been shitting their pants in Sanford stadium since 2007".
