Mainly because the college was all dudes.
Back in the day, the cadets always brought a date/corsage (usually from Texas Women’s or Baylor) to every home game.
There was never a need to identify a specific game for the purpose of “Homecoming.”
So began the kissing after the team scores tradition (“When the team scores, we score”).
(this is also where the Yell Leaders tradition originated, but that’s another thread)
Former Students are welcome back to Aggieland any time, regardless of the game, so the idea of Homecoming never caught on.

Honestly I feel like former students do it for big schools regardless.
And maybe because I'm not old yet and don't love the mumbo jumbo behind it. But I'd rather go back for other games that my friends and I choose to go to.
Homecoming fanfare gets a little annoying to me.
Gimme the UGA or Clemson game at home. (or Bama next year)

ok...I get that kinda, and alumni are welcome back at all schools any time. Just kinda odd that making a celebration/parade all that a thing never happened. But I've come to know...yall pretty much go out of your way to be very different.

It’s applicable in this thread. Please feel free to go for it. I’m certainly interested.

I assumed you replaced Homecoming excitement with biennial State House
