For the Record, Why Didn't We Hire Venables?

Defense wins games.
Morris will build a competitive team, given enough time, but Arkansas doesn't have the resources to build a consistent winner without selling the farm to build a top flight defense.
We could have had him. But we still have idiots making decisions around here.

Morris is about to sign a top 10 class, and only got 2 of the top players from in state.

I mean, I keep hearing these rumors that we used to be good, but I'm telling you guys, outside two damn years, our football team has been pretty terrible for like, MY ENTIRE LIFE.

We hired a defensive minded coach and fizzled out so naturally we rebounded by hiring a guy with a background on offense. I would say that’s pretty common in football so it shouldn’t be a surprise why Morris got the nod over Venables.

See, I think this part is a mistake.
I mean, I'm only joking about the Venables thing, but this philosophy of abandoning what you've done and running in the exact opposite direction is silly.
Like, we are gonna hire this defensive guy, and as soon as his roster is full of his (presumably) defensive players, we're gonna fire him and hire someone to build the offense.
This way, we always either have a defense or an offense, and never both.
When you're limited in your resources, it may not be the best idea to flop around like that

Looking forward to basketball season. I think this team has a lot of potential, y'all.
I know there's no way this will actually happen, but man, if we could somehow convince Gafford to stick around for his senior year, this team may look like a national contender. One year off, but getting close.
