Wrong. Perhaps the reason that the review went so quickly was because the officials know what they're doing with targeting. There have been quite a few this season. In fact, there have been two by LSU before White's. Or maybe, it was so quick because it was so clear that White targeted. Reporters sitting near me who have covered LSU for decades immediately thought it was targeting before the replays were even shown. I thought it wasn't targeting until I saw replays.

It was targeting... not a conspiracy!

The fact that he's defending the call is the best evidence I've seen yet that the penalty was complete horseshite

Guilbeau loves nothing more than to stir the pot with LSU fans. It’s all he has.

Ha
Haha
Hahaha
Hahahaha
Hahahahaha

Glenn fricking Guilbeau is such a shithead when it comes to click bait shite against LSU. Throw in his self proclaimed love for all things Nick Saban and, well, we don’t really give a frick what he thinks. National football people have called out the bullshite. It’s fine. It’s time to move on.

Sorry, but using Glenn Guilbeau to bolster your position on the Devin White situation is like quoting Rae Carruth on how to treat women.

Guilbeau is a shill. He's more of a Saban fanboy than an LSU fan.

There are two questions to ask when it comes to proving targeting..

Was the player ejected?

Is the player suspended for the next half of play?

There’s a reason GG columns are banned from the Rant. He defending the call makes it even more clear it was horseshite in my mind

His whole career is built on contrarian click bait

I am an LSU fan, and don’t always care for Gilbeau’s articles. But I agree with this one. I’m sorry for Devin and LSU and I’m glad the team has moved on. I’m ok that the fans have not, as they need to bring the heat to make Death Valley hostile on Sat in November. One th8ng he doesn’t mention is the non calls in the Bama game on Guantanamo and on that collision on the goal line on the Tenn TD. I’d like to hear a rational explanation of why those weren’t called. Seems inconsistent to me, but I’m not thinking conspiracy here.

I've watched the damn thing multiple times and I'm still not sure how that was obviously targeting. I mean, refs on the field have to make split-second decisions. I get that, and unless it was utterly impossible -- say, White never touched Fitzgerald -- I will assume they saw something it was worth throwing a flag over, right or wrong. Refs are like anyone else being judged by hundreds of thousands of people on TV. Most of them want to do their job properly and get out of the stadium without being hated by everyone in a 300 mile radius. But I still can't see clear targeting.

Maybe a different angle, one I haven't seen, will clear it up. Normally, I'm not inclined to share the opinion of a group that spends more time complaining about the officiating than the rest of the SEC combined. The fatigue sets in really quickly there. But damn if I can't see how they're wrong about that play, at least from the angles I've seen. Does somebody have video, or even just a GIF, that explains why they're convinced it was the right call?
