It’s his own dumb arse fault when he ends up on the couch. So I’m not sure what he’s trying to do. Regardless, his perceived lack of complacency after guaranteeing the bag is completely overrated. Maybe he should say “nah I’m good” you go call plays for a while. Maybe then we will get a W.
But yeah, I can imagine that people that work themselves to success usually have a irreversible work ethic. My bank account still says I’m unsuccessful, so I wouldn’t know anything about that.

With that being said I've lost my faith in Gus so it won't ruin my saturday or anything if we lose, but I will still root for them despite knowing how pissed it will make me during the game

That is the exact mentality unsuccessful people have. “Why should be care if he is going to get x”. Well, he got to that point by caring. He just gave 2 mil to the school. He wants to keep doing well and grow it.
That “I’m good” mentality is what holds most people back.

Pretty sure if Malzahn was only financially motivated, he'd have stopped a long time ago. I mean Malzahn had already made some $15-20m+ from Auburn alone before this new contract

Not everyone hates their jobs as much as accountants

No offense, but I feel like this is something unsuccessful people ask when someone is wealthy Malzahn probably works 12 hour days or more. He’s not trying to go home and watch football on his couch
No offense, but this seems like something that a person with no first-hand experience with high-wealth individuals, large numbers or knowledge of how comp plans are supposed to work would say.
If you don’t think that he is motivated by money, then why did we offer him so much money??
And I never said he doesn’t work a lot of hours. I implied that he doesn’t really feel threatened by being fired because he loses very little, aside from pride, which $30MM has been rumored to cure.

Because Sexton asked for it and he got it?
Because we had a guy negotiating a contract that doesn’t understand negotiating with college coaches and their agent?
Because he beat two #1 teams in a row and had all the leverage at the time?
Did you mean to ask another question? There’s a bunch of reasons why it happened and everyone is pretty pissed about it

Market-rate baw. Arky was on the plane to hire him.

Has “The Vest” cleared his show cause time? I realize he is with an NFL team as an analyst, I believe, but you can’t tell me if we gave him full control of an SEC program he would not come down here.
Not all heroes wear capes. He could put his moral compass in his pocket and I don’t care. He got crucified for a lot less than what is being tolerated in the climate of NCAA football at the moment.

He is president of Youngstown St, the school he coached at for nearly 2 decades for Ohio St. He is born Ohio, raised in Ohio, went to school in Ohio and really only coached in Ohio. He isn't leaving Ohio at age 65
More importantly, he has been out of football for 8 years and is past retirement age, he would be a disaster of a hire

Jones was talking about successful people, not trust fund kids or when 'daddy' gave you a corner office to start your career

You clearly don't know many people who were 'self-made' successful then. They'll talk about how the buyout/severance was great, but being fired absolutely eats them alive.

He resigned after his 10 months at Arky due to professional differences with Nutt. I'm pretty sure every other job he took was considered a promotion.
Of course in over 30 years of coaching he's also never had a losing season, so I guess there's a first time for everything.
