Not sure when you're going to get here, but if you aren't passing through NOLA, stop at Anthony's on Government for a Muffelletta. It's the closest you'll get to a good one from NOLA. Really, really good.

If you want pizza, you won't find better than by sticking on Government Street and hitting up Fleur De Lis. It looks like a bit of a run-down Art Deco styled dive-and that will be reinforced when you walk in-but it's fantastic.

If you want Oysters, don't listen to the previous poster. Go to Jolie Pearl downtown, or better yet, stick on Government and hit the White Star Market. You'll have a ton of options, including a full oyster bar with char-broiled options from Jolie Pearl inside as well as a ton of other food options.

Parrains' brunch is legit. But don't forget about Superior. Their breakfast is served until 2pm on the weekends and it's phenomenal.

BRQ for BBQ. Chimes but only do the one by Campus at the North Gates for the best feel. The Chimes Club-grilled or fried-is a quality choice. Onion rings are also a go-to for me personally. Beer selection is on point as you'd expect.

If you want high end, Gino's on Government has fantastic Itlian. I recommend the Seafood Arancini to start. Second place for Italian is the Little Village (seriously, you've gotta order the bread; they aren't lying about it). Some people like the downtown location. I like the one towards Prairieville. The truth is you won't go wrong there.

Hard-but nevertheless doable-to get a truly bad meal in Baton Rouge. We aren't NOLA and don't claim to be, but we know what we're doing Brotha.

BONUS: If you want the best Fried Chicken you've ever had, try Chicken Shack on Acadian. It's truthfully a little on the dodgy side as far as what part of town its in, but hit the drive through and you'll be fine. Seriously, it's badass.
