Honest Question: Have any QBs progressed under CGM?

I can't seem to remember any QBs that have gotten better after year one under Gus. I don't follow this as closely as some of you, so I really don't know for sure.

Cam was nowhere near as good of a passer when he came in. Nick Marshall was one of the worst passers I’ve ever seen at the beginning of 2013.

Cam was a very average passer when he got here. The CU, MSU, and Kentucky game in 2010 was hard to watch. NM was RAW when he arrived to campus. I get the Gus hate at times, but you can't just discredit the two best QBs the past 30 years under his guidance.

This why folks should be hesitant to criticize our QB's. Gus isn't a QB whisperer.
Unless it's a full blown shite show like JJ, I can't bring myself to pile on a Gus Malzahn QB because they're not getting developed by him and his offense isn't built to maximize their strengths.

Cam obviously only played one year and Gus was the OC. I should have put that in the subject... I meant as a HC.
If I remember it correctly, Nick Marshall was much worse in 2014 as opposed to 2013. That could have been a result of lower overall talent.

It seems like Gus was trying to prove he could win with a passing QB. Screw the haters. Do you and run the QB option.

Wut? NM was fantastic in 2014. The D was a seive.

It appears he may have learned this when you look at our QB recruiting the past couple years (aside from Stidham).

Dumb post. This issue has been discussed to death over the last several years. I don’t believe you were truly wanting to know the answer to your question l

Bo Nix and Cord won't be doing any QB options. Gatewood maybe, but the jury is still out on him.

Your memory is off. 2014 our offense was actually fantastic. We weren’t nearly as proficient on the ground, but we developed a deadly passing game.

Cord is fast enough to make you at least respect it. Nix is fast enough to really hurt you. He isn’t as fast as NM was, but I bet he could hang with Willis.

I think QB option is Cord’s wheelhouse, actually. Nix is typically grouped with dual threat guys. No idea what the future holds for either, but I’d guess Cord is more optiony than Nix

That's encouraging
ETA:
I never understood why Gus would move from such an effective component of his O.

That's how I've heard it as well. Nix is similar to Stidham in that he can elude but isn't a true running threat. I think Cord will be taking some shots.

man oh man do I remember the days of
"Malzahn fielded a great offense with Chris Todd, he can just throw you or me back there and put up 500 yards of offense"
