Is LSU this season’s Texas A&M?

For multiple years during their SEC stint to date, Texas A&M has the label that no team wants: a team that peaks at the wrong time. From 2014-2016, A&M had red hot starts, taking down what were at the time top 10 teams, that then turned into 8-5 stinkers.
The problem was, those teams that were top 10 should never have been there in the first place.
2014 - Texas A&M opens by defeating #9 USC at Williams-Brice after many analysts picked the Gamecocks to win the SEC. USC goes on to a 3-5 conference, 7-6 overall record.
2015 - #15 Arizona State falls to A&M in their opener at Reliant Stadium. The Sun Devils end up posting a 6-7 record. A few games later, A&M takes down #21 Miss St, who ends up with a .500 conference record.
2016 - A&M pulls out an OT win against #16 UCLA, a team that turns in a 4-8 record at year end. Then come wins against #17 Arkansas (7-6) and #9 Tennessee (9-4).
Does this fact pattern seem familiar? If so, you’re probably thinking of the 2018 LSU Tigers. Having defeated two highly ranked teams in Miami and Auburn, who clearly did not deserve their early season rankings, LSU is set to take the “Too Early” crown.
We can only hope for the sake of the SEC that they’re able to shake it after one season, unlike the Aggies.

What is the weird fascination Aggies have with LSU on this board? Never would have expected it

Did A&M ever have a Dave Aranda caliber DC on their staff? Didn't think so. So... no.

We're just happy the Shrimp Boat Captain hasn't sunk our ship. But thank you for thinking of us.

Texas A&M will be every years Texas A&M. Jumbo won’t fix that

A&M will be this season’s A&M. Congrats on only losing to Clemson by 7 points though, Loser Mindset U!

LSU is not A&M. Nothing about what A&M did in 2014-2016 has anything to do with what LSU will or will not do in 2018. LSU has earned their current ranking, and if they lose more games down the stretch, they will earn whatever ranking they have at that point. No one, not even LSU fans, have crowned LSU 3 games into the season. What A&M fans did, however, is talk a lot of shite after those starts, which made their collapses entertaining. The only thing that has changed for LSU fans is not wanting to fire Orgeron this week, and no one talks more shite about LSU than LSU fans. So, if LSU lays an egg against La Tech, you can expect to see the same "Ed orgeron suck" threads pop up on the rant next week.

Futile analysis. You should be asking yourself what drives Aggy to be considered in the same breath as LSU. Insecurity? Resentment? Fear? Probably all 3.

LSU will lose to Georgia and Alabama at home. Because in year 3 under O they will still be soft

yes, because LSU doesn't beat itself

no, because the aggies would collapse after starting the meat of their schedule (SEC) because y'alls team was not built for SEC play. you wouldn't run the ball under Sumlin even when he inherited one of the best OL's ever and two damn good RB's. add to that he obviously didn't put much emphasis on defense and you have a "script" for your annual fall from the cliff.
LSU may not (and probably won't imo) win the SEC this year but if they collapse it will be due to serious injuries to multiple key players. The LSU team in nothing like your teams that collapsed.
