What is it with our turf?

I've noticed that our turf makes a lot of tackles with Jonathan Johnson being it's #1 victim since Ish graduated.

MU just refuses to implement the recommendations put forward by the 1990 Colorado Excuses Committee!

I don't know but our field looks like arse.
Our set-up is so bad.
It does not look nearly as good as the other games on tv.

The construction of the upper deck should have included proper locations for cameras. The angle is so low that it is distracting on tv.

The field is too far away from the seats.
If we are being honest, our stadium kind of sucks in comparison to the rest of the league.
I really wish they would have tore it down instead of doing all of these renovations but it is what it is. Put as much lipstick on this pig as possible.

100% agree.
A major reason our field looks shite on tv.

If you do some mild investigating, you'd be surprised how many stadiums have similar amount of space on the sidelines in front of the stands.

Torn down and probably relocated.
B-ball got a new facility. Not sure why they didn’t just plan a new field. The turf does look like shite. Saw so many cleats getting stuck and ripping up huge chunks.

Huge chunks of what?

You are right...I'd be quite surprised

Believe it or not actual grass. Boggles the mind.

Well, at least we have Mizzou Arena

bad ground for drainage, and with even one end closed off air flow becomes an issue (allowing fungus, etc., and weakening grass).
we need to relocate the stadium, unfortunately SEZ project will necessitate at least 15-20 years before we do.

The stadium is going to be around until they eventually stop playing football

I agree. Notice how many other stadiums have the front rows of seats closer to the field creating a louder environment. I wish the track around the stadium would be removed and more closer rows of seats be added, but I guess it’s not realistic for that to happen. I also wish the TV camera angle could be moved higher up, but other schools like Florida St., USC, and Utah have the same low TV camera angle in their stadiums.

Just so everyone is aware, there used to be about 5-6 more rows of seats below where the brick wall is now. They went all the way down to field level. They were removed because nobody could see anything, especially on the other side of the field due to the crown.
The good news is that the SEZ isn't really connected to the existing grand stands AND the current pressbox is going to be 20 years old soon. This may be an opportunity to tear the west side stands down completely and move them to where everyone wants them and then do the same to the east a few years later.
IMO, if this is what happens we'll be looking at a final stadium capacity around 60k.

You just put a brand new upper deck on the east. Not going to tear that down in our lifetimes . . .

Stadium aspects tend to be outdated in 15 years or so. Hell, many things are expected to be replaced every 10 years or so (jumbo trons). The east side was done as a band-aid project anyway.
If we do the west side in 5-7 years, it would probably be 3-5 years after that before they could do the east. That would put those facilities at possibly 15+ years old which is ancient as far as it goes with keeping pace in the SEC.

I didn’t know that about the seats behind the brick wall. Thanks for giving some perspective.

I have a hard time believing that Mizzou has any plans to tear down the east or west side at all. The revenue doesn’t justify it. If Mizzou goes on some crazy awesome national winning streak, the most likely outcome is North end zone renovations. They won’t touch the east or west side for 20 years minimum
