Regardless on where you stand one the side of the cop hating, communist, race baiting former NFL qb, but does it matter That he has become the face of a product that our players/coaches/support staff will be promoting his views every time they are viewed in public.
I think Universities and and other organizations should have clauses in contracts that allows them so recourse over negative\controversial ad campaigns.
How do you feel about the issue?

1. Spell check is cool.
2. Since we recruit mostly black athletes, I think it would be a good idea to stick with Nike and not take a side on the issue as a University.

Definitely needs editing, thanks for the heads up.

Black athletes don’t wear adidas? Under Armor?
What are you trying to say? Not stereotyping are you?

Lol of course they do. If the University was to drop/deamand recourse from Nike over this issue, it will upset some recruits, because of many of their position's on the Collin Kaepernick issue. If we wait until the end of the contract and casually switch over to Addidas or Under Armor from Nike, we will not piss off any recruits and we will hurt Nike's pocketbook.

I too, don’t think we make a hasty decision. I just think there should be contracts that allow us a say in controversial ad campaigns.
Are we, as a public University, now endorsing the views of Kap,now?

No and reasonable people know that.

Kneeling during the anthem is less offensive than say, pissin and farting your way through a pair of American flag trunks on Memorial Day or leaving your hat on and binge drinking drafts and shoveling wings in your mouth while it’s playing on tv or my personal favorite rushing to find your seat or order nachos while the anthem is playing at Razorback stadium.
The fake outrage is getting old and it’s become in vogue to be outraged at people being outraged.
Out of curiosity, I think I would be interesting to poll how many people get off the couch, stand, and put their hand over their heart when they show the flag and play the anthem on tv. I’d guess that the amount of people that do would be nil.

I'm not one to let a company's political views determine whether or not I like their products...
In other words, IDGAF

I haven't cared about brand names since Guess was popular.
I wouldn't mind the ad except for the 'sacrificing everything' part. It's like Nike's begging to be ridiculed.
PS, I love you
(eta- love the usa not pigfeet, he's alright tho)

So Planned Parenthood or the NRA sponsoring our program would not harm the brand?

Nike sucks. Their shoes suck, their apparel sucks, their equipment sucks, and I felt that way when Kap was playing Pop Warner
I don’t know a single person that has legitimately tried another brand and went back to Nike.

Ok, damnit, shiny hook and I just have to.
The problem with Kap begins with the socks he wore of Police as pigs, then the movement that he helped start that speaks down at our officers. And, "Sacrifice Everything" dude, your alive and breathing.. have fandom and attention now, getting $$$... good health, STFU with that stuff. It is such a pansy thing to do with regard to who has truly sacrificed for our great nation.
Yep, they had done some things that shouldn't have been done in the line of duty. But the few doesn't make the whole. Kap has taken a cause and become famous over it. He was a mediocre QB, but now he is known. as far as the Flag. Stand, show respect for our nation or at least those who have died fighting for the rights, freedoms that we have. I am not outraged at all by those who kneel or at Nike. I have come to expect it. Disrespect is everywhere, no respect for parents, authority, government, rules, and pansies abound. It is the norm in society today. Take the time to watch the reverend who spoke at Aretha Franklin's funeral. Give me your opinion on that. Is he right? hmmmm
For Nike it is awesome publicity and they see the denigration of our society, the coming generations as what they are. They are capitalizing on that exact thing. So what if they lose sales for 6 months as long as they capture the hearts of the ultra libs of the future. Show me the money, is all that they care about.
If that wasn't true, their products would be made in the USA rather than at sweat shops elsewhere.
Now... On to a president that loves to stir up stink as well. He is great at marketing and isn't this kind of ironic. Nike stole one from his play book by doing this on a holiday weekend when few would, could respond. Including him. The sales will pick up again after he blasts them on Twitter.
Marketing 101, sit back and watch...
as for the UofA? I don't give a crap what they wear, for the umpteenth time... JUST WIN BABY!

This latest bull shite is why I want athletes and sport entities to just stick to GD sports.

quote:When I was a teenager I worked the shoe section of Academy Sports and had A LOT of time to try on shoes. Nike is legitimately just a name. Their shoes of all types feel like wearing bricks compared to pretty much any other brand in the game. Their athletic clothing tends to be on the slim side and that works in my favor so I like that aspect, but their shoes are fricking garbage.
