Serious question. Why didn’t Ole Miss name him after Chucky?

Keep in mind, I think being the “landsharks” is alright, but y’all could have done better on that mascot. That thing is ugly.

Tony is the one that coined the Landshark name and symbol back in 2008. From what I understand it was a nickname for his platoon in Baghdad.

I'm not sure how we could have done a mascot around Chucky... We have a bust of him in the South Endzone that the team runs out of.

But yeah, the mascot is lame. I think the best question is why do we even have to have one? I really don't see little kids warming up to a weird shark looking thing roaming the sideline.

The best thing the admin could have done, when they got rid of Col Reb was to go with a revolutionary soldier looking guy, called him Rebel, and be done with it years ago. But, it is what it is...landsharkbearrebels.
