Last camp update before my focus shifts to the season:

1) Ben Brown, as we saw, has been taking first team reps at guard and has earned a starting spot. He's a big body at 6'6" 290 and has made some great strides in the fall.
2) Eric Swinney has fricking mono. So our 2nd and 3rd leading rushers from last season are both out for a few weeks.
3) Scottie Phillips will be the starting RB. He has impressed in the fall and beat out Eric Swinney.
4) Update on Devaughn Pennamon: his knee injury from last fall is still plaguing him and he will not be available for a few weeks. He will be reevaluated a few weeks into the season.
5) Freshman LBs continue to impress. Kevontae Ruggs will start at LB this fall, and many other freshman LBs will see playing time this fall. From what I've read, the LB corps is actually fairly decent.
6) AJ will be 100% for Texas Tech.
7) Matt Corral will also be 100% after nursing a finger injury.
8) The secondary will be interesting. There is experience and depth there this year, but who will step up and be the leader of the secondary?
9) All coaches are happy with how practice has gone, and we will not enter the season with any "problem areas."

For reference, here is Matt Luke's announced 2 deep lineup for Tech.

Sounds a lot like the Nutt press conferences. Yay
